Best of Both Worlds: 3 Advantages of Integrated Medicine in Healthcare -written by Poonam Chanchlani (BCA, Data Science)

New Delhi:  Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister of India, emphasized the country's robust efforts in enhancing healthcare services through the integration of modern and traditional medicine . Speaking at the National AYUSH Mission Conclave organized by the Ministry of AYUSH, Dr. Mandaviya underscored the significance of establishing a unified platform for multiple healthcare systems.

He highlighted the ongoing collaboration between modern and traditional medicine, aimed at creating an integrated approach to patient care. The integration of Ayush systems in central government hospitals was a key topic during his inaugural address. Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the need to incorporate Ayush practices into mainstream public healthcare delivery, leveraging their combined strengths to provide holistic patient care.

During the event, Dr. Mandaviya, along with Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union AYUSH Minister, launched two technology-driven initiatives, AHMIS (Ayush Health Management Information System) and eLMS (Education Learning Management System). These initiatives are designed to enhance healthcare management and education within the Ayush sector.

Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai, the Minister of State for AYUSH, was also present at the event, along with State Health Ministers from various regions of India.

The Union Health Minister emphasized India's global acceptance of initiatives such as 'Heal by India' and 'Heal in India.' He stated that India's rich heritage of traditional medicine, focusing on wellness, has garnered international attention. This has led to an influx of patients seeking treatment in India and a growing demand for medical professionals trained in both modern and traditional medicine.

Dr. Mandaviya also highlighted India's leadership in traditional medicine, citing the development of the WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This center positions India as a global frontrunner in the field of traditional medicine.

With these efforts, India is not only reinforcing its healthcare system but also emerging as a key player in promoting integrated healthcare on a global scale.
